What are the symptoms of computer vision syndrome ?
- Eyestrain
- Headache
- Blurred vision
- Dry or irritated eyes
- Neck/ Backaches
- Sensitivity to light
- Double vision
- Glare/After images/Flicker
Whom does it affect ?
Anyone who works on the computer for more than 4 hours.
How is CVS treated ?
- Sit so that your head and neck are upright and in line with your torso or tilted back.
- Position your computer display so that the top of the screen is at or slightly below eye level.
- position the computer screen to avoid any glare, especially from overhead lighting or windows.
- Blink fully and frequently to reduce the risk of dry eyes from computer use.
- Take frequent breaks while working on your computer . Focus on a distant target for about 20 seconds at least every 20 - 30 minutes so that your eyes have a chance to refocus.
- Undercorrected or uncorrected vision problems can be major contributing factors to CVS. They should be treated with corrective lenses such as glasses or contact lenses
- Your prescription needs to be checked on a regular basis to make sure your visual acuity is the best it can be.
