In 1984, Gitanjali Eye and ENT Hospital was founded in Thiruvananthapuram, born from Dr. Balakrishnan Nair’s vision for delivering exceptional patient care. The inauguration, officiated by Minister TM Jacob, marked a modest yet significant beginning. These foundational years established a legacy of trust and ethical practice, setting the stage for Gitanjali’s evolution into a respected center for Eye and ENT care, dedicated to serving the community.
Fast forward to 2012, under the leadership of Dr. Arun Nair, the hospital expanded its services by introducing a state-of-the-art operation theatre equipped with cutting-edge technology. Additionally, the inpatient facility was revamped to ensure a more comfortable stay for patients, marking a new era of enhanced patient care.
In 2013, building upon the strong foundation established in 1984, the Gitanjali Eye Department made significant advancements. Led by Dr. Ambika Shetty, the department commenced its operations in a dedicated cubicle on the hospital’s second floor. Over the years, the department has flourished, expanding its services to include cutting-edge procedures such as keyhole phacoemulsification surgery. Advanced diagnostic tools, including specular microscopy, retinal lasers, YAG lasers, and visual field analysis, have also been incorporated. This commitment to leading-edge ophthalmic technology ensures patients receive the most effective and comprehensive eye care available.
On May 9th, 2024, an Eye and ENT outreach clinic was inaugurated at Technopark Phase 1, in partnership with the IT company M Squared. This clinic aims to provide comprehensive eye and ENT care to the Technopark community, ensuring convenient access to high-quality medical services for employees and residents in the area. The collaboration with M Squared underscores a shared commitment to enhancing the health and well-being of the local workforce.
