Dr. Ambika is an ophthalmologist with over 15 years of dedicated experience. Her expertise extends to a wide range of ophthalmic procedures, particularly phacoemulsification cataract surgery, including complex cases involving iris hooks, pupil expansion devices, toric, and multifocal IOLs.
Dr. Ambika has a special passion for pediatric refraction, allergic eye diseases, and dry eye disease. Her professional journey includes significant roles as a consultant ophthalmologist at Sri Ramakrishna Mission Hospital and Child Development Centre in Trivandrum.
Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. Ambika is actively involved in the ophthalmic community. She has served as Treasurer and Scientific Committee Chairman of the Trivandrum Ophthalmic Club and is an executive member of the Kerala Society of Ophthalmic Surgeons. Her contributions have been recognized through presentations at state and national conferences.
Dr. Ambika’s commitment to the field extends to academic pursuits as well. She is a reviewer for the Delhi Journal of Ophthalmology. Her dedication to community service is evident through her active involvement in the Inner Wheel Club of Trivandrum Blossom, where she has held leadership positions including President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
She has coordinated several community outreach camps to support those living in areas with no access to healthcare.
Dr. Ambika has also contributed to the development of future ophthalmologists. She has worked as a coordinator of leadership development programs for ophthalmologists across Kerala and has participated in the All India Ophthalmic Society’s Leadership Development Program. Moreover, she mentors surgeons to develop their surgical skills.
Dr. Ambika’s educational background includes her time at Minto Ophthalmic Hospital, one of the oldest and renowned eye hospitals in India. She received valuable training in cataract surgery from the renowned master surgeon, Dr. Sriganesh, at Nethradhama Eye Hospital in Bangalore.
